Founding Engineer
Our client, an early-stage technology startup, is building a new product from the ground up with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Python and AWS, and is looking for a founding engineer who can move comfortably between product ideas, architecture and production software while helping shape the technical direction and the engineering team of the company.

Key Responsibilities
- Establish the initial engineering architecture and technical standards.
- Build and ship the core product hands-on across React and Next.js frontends, Node.js, NestJS and FastAPI services and REST APIs.
- Make key technology and infrastructure decisions across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, AWS, Docker and CI/CD.
- Work directly with founders and leadership on technical strategy.
- Define engineering requirements based on company goals, product roadmap and milestones.
- Identify future technical hiring needs.
- Recruit and help build the technical engineering team as the company grows.
- Participate in technical interviews and evaluate engineering candidates.
- Define technical hiring criteria for future engineering roles.
- Help determine when additional engineers are required based on product requirements and company milestones.
- Mentor and guide engineers who join the company.
- Establish engineering culture, development standards and technical processes.
Technical Skills
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
- Production experience with React and Next.js.
- Production experience with Node.js, NestJS and REST APIs.
- Strong Python experience, including building services with FastAPI.
- Strong database design experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
- Experience with AWS cloud architecture, Docker, Git, GitHub Actions and CI/CD.
- Strong system architecture, system design and API design skills.
- Experience with scalability and security of production systems.
- Technical leadership and end-to-end product development experience.
- Experience with AI, LLMs or machine-learning systems is a strong advantage.
- Comfortable working independently in an early-stage startup environment.
Language Requirements
- English: C1 (Advanced)
- French: Nice to have / a plus
